American Legion Post 31 Effective date: October 18, 2026

American Legion Post 31 (“Post 31,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit veterans organization located at 140 North Walnut Street, East Palestine, OH 44413. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, epalp31.org, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It also explains our text message (SMS) practices.

1. Information We Collect

When you place an order on our website, such as a bingo packet prepay or another online order like a lunch order, we collect:

  • Your name, so we can match your order to you at pickup.
  • Your mobile phone number, so we can text you a receipt with your pickup number.
  • Your email address, so we can email you your order confirmation and pickup number.
  • Order details, such as the bingo date, packets, add-ons, quantities, any optional donation, and any optional note you add.
  • Payment information. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Square. Your full card number goes straight to Square and is not stored by Post 31. We receive only the payment result and basic transaction details (for example, the amount and the last digits of the card).

Our website also uses standard tools that may collect basic technical information automatically, such as your browser type, device type, pages visited, and general location based on IP address. This information helps us understand how the site is used and keep it working. You can limit cookies through your browser settings.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

  • Process and fulfill your order and get your packets or items ready for pickup.
  • Send you a receipt with your pickup number by text message and email.
  • Answer your questions and provide customer support.
  • Keep records of orders, payments, and donations as required for our nonprofit’s bookkeeping and legal obligations.
  • Keep our website secure and working properly.

We do not use your phone number to send marketing or promotional text messages.

3. Text Messages (SMS)

  • What we send: When you enter your mobile number at checkout, you agree to receive a text receipt with your pickup number from American Legion Post 31. These are transactional messages only. We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
  • How often: One text message per purchase.
  • Costs: Message and data rates may apply.
  • Opting out: Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will receive one message confirming that you have been unsubscribed, and you will not get further texts from us unless you opt in again.
  • Help: Reply HELP for help, or contact us at (330) 426-2131 or 1stvice@epalp31.org.
  • Carriers: Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run our website and deliver the service you asked for, and only as needed to do so:

  • Our text message provider (Twilio), to deliver your text receipt.
  • Our payment processor (Square), to process your card payment.
  • Our website hosting and email providers, to run the website and send your email confirmation.

These providers may use your information only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid court order.

All of the above is subject to our commitment in Section 3: mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data and consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information. Our website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, card payments are handled by Square, and access to order information is limited to the Post 31 members and volunteers who need it to fill orders. No method of sending or storing data online is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

6. Data Retention

We keep order information only as long as we need it to fulfill your order, provide support, and meet our record-keeping, accounting, and legal obligations. We keep a record of your SMS consent and any opt-out request so that we can honor your choice. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Children’s Privacy

Our website and online ordering are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP.
  • Ask us what personal information we have about you.
  • Ask us to correct or delete your personal information, unless we need to keep it for legal or accounting reasons.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
